Gilbert-George Ed ward “Ed” Crout Sr., 86, passed away Dec. 15, 2021 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 210 Bethlehem Circle, Leesville, SC 29070.

Ed was blessed with a large and loving family. He is survived by his ONE AND ONLY love in life of 67 years Betty, their children; sons, Chuck, Eddie (Carol), Billy (Susan), Neal, daughter, Karen, grandchildren; Jason (Janice), Carrie (Travis), Andrew (Amanda), Joshua, Katy, Allie, James, Nicolas, and great-grandchildren, Jonah, Luke, Caleb, Millie, Hensley and Wesley; siblings Larry (Nancy), Joan Harmon, Evelyn Amick, Jerry (Leigh), and Donnie (Cyndee).

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jane Donna, grandsons, Ryan and Levi, and parents George and Leola Crout

Ed was born on Dec. 31, 1934, at home in Gilbert, S.C. Edward was honored many times during his professional and community services. He served on numerous committees as well as volunteering his time and love. He dedicated 43 and a half years to the Gilbert Summit Fire Dept. Station 8, Gilbert Community Club and the Lexington County Peach Festival. His desire was to help and teach younger generations life skills and lessons. His leadership as Scoutmaster of Troop 60 for many years greatly impacted the lives of young men. Edward was a member and volunteer of Meals on Wheels, Lexington County Peach Festival, Gilbert Ruritan Club, Mid Carolina Electric Cooperative nominating committee, and a long standing member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Edward, Ed, White Pine, Pop, Daddy, Tall Papa, best for last, loved others and will be remembered for his love, by many friends and family while waiting to join him in the Kingdom of God for eternity. “Have I told you today that I love you?”
