This may be the most important year in history to get a flu shot.
As the fight against covid-19 continues, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and Prisma Health are offering free flu vaccines to Lexington County residents through October.
Vaccines are available Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 am – 1 pm at Brookland Baptist Church, 1066 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia.
The flu vaccine is recommended for anyone 6 months of age and older.
Face masks or shields are required, and temperature checks are taken upon arrival.
Participants are asked to wear short-sleeve shirts or loose-fitting clothing that can easily roll up.
Prisma’s walk-in clinic administers flu vaccines Wednesdays and Thursdays in October from 3-6 pm at 9 Medical Park, Columbia.
For additional information about free flu shots or to find a flu vaccination opportunity in your area visit www.scdhec.gov/flu or prismahealth.com/flu .
