GHS selects pageant winners

Gilbert High School held the 2020 Miss GHS Pageant last weekend, where over $450 dollars was raised by the Student Council for Katrina’s Kids.

Congratulations to these pageant winners: Miss GHS 2020 Adianne Velders, Miss Senior Chelby Drafts, runner-up Miss Senior Maddie Stalvey, Miss Junior Allie Keisler, runner-up Miss Junior Emily Davis, Miss Sophomore Gena Leaphart, runner-up Miss Sophomore Mary Elizabeth Branham, Miss Freshman Sarah Grace Jerkins, runner-up Miss Freshman Leah Browning, Miss People’s Choice Adianne Velders, and Miss Congeniality Gena Leaphart.

Congratulations to GHS 12th grader Gracie Howard. Her essay, Perilous Beauty, earned her 1st place in South Carolina Wildlife magazine’s personal essay contest.

Gilbert High School Main Street Players invite the community to see Fiddler on the Roof February 27, 28 and 29 at 7 pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students K-12 and children. For information, call 821-1900.

Hollow Creek Community Club members enjoyed a Valentine’s Day dinner at their February meeting. They enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Barbara Mercurio, Mary Ann Sease, Nancy Tinman, and Rebekah Tinman. After a short business meeting, the members played Valentine’s Day Bingo with the winners receiving prizes provided by Cupid. HCCC members recognized Delle Price, Hettie Spencer, Mary Ann Sease, and Pat Fulmer as having February birthdays, and Wendell and Sarah Evans as having a February anniversary. Gilbert Pack 60 Scouts will celebrate their annual Blue and Gold Banquet February 29. This is the 90th year of Cub Scouts and Pack 60 is looking forward to this event. A representative from the SC State Parks will speak. Several of the Scouts will prepare a silly dessert with the most creative dessert winning a prize. Pack 60 Scouts are still selling Camp Cards as a fundraiser. Camp Cards offer special discounts at business in the community. For information, call Patricia Pound at 803-724-7073.

Beulah United Methodist Church invites the community to its annual yard sale March 5 through 7. If you miss breakfast, the church will have a light breakfast for sale each day. There will also be a bake sale. For information on donations or for directions, call the church office at 892-2842.
