This past June several members of Gilbert High School’s HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) chapter received an international achievement award. The students competed at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Orlando at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

Congratulations to GHS students: Madison H. Cooke, Harliann N. Hendrix, Harmony A. Hendrix and Brian S. Scircle, who finished 4th place in the Biomedical Debate category. The annual competition draws future medical professionals from around the world, with approximately 10,000 students vying for awards in areas of dental terminology, forensic science and more.

GHS’s team began preparing their affirmative and negative responses to the debate topic, “Pain Management: Opioids are the best solution!” These GHS students debated against teams from the U.S. and its territories, Canada, Mexico and China.
