Lexington, Edgefield and Saluda counties are the state’s predominant peach-growers.

Red Eye coffee opens

Red Eye Express Coffee has opened at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Owners Tim Smaha, Adam Heirs, Lisa Matthews and Stan Matthews opened the coffee kiosk in the airport’s Community Opportunity Leasing Agreement program. The airport offers 6 or 12-month leases to independent merchants who pay $400-$815 a month rent or 12% of gross sales. The shop plans to donate coffee grounds and other compostable waste products to Riverbanks Zoo and Garden.
