Thanks to Steve and Trudy Neese, Melissa Behles, Sam and Beverly Jackson, Jean Haggard, Kay Collings, Iris Jeffcoat, Daniel Shumpert, and Frank Shumpert for cleaning Pelion’s memorial site, trimming trees and roses, putting out new mulch, edging the walkway, blowing away leaves, and hauling away the debris. It was perfect for Memorial Day.

Congratulations to the Spring Health Clinical Studies class at Pelion High. They exemplified excellence with a 100% pass rate on both the written and skills portion of the CAN (Certified Nurse Aid). Students participating were Dalton Bird, Taylor Dolezel, Caitlin Jeffcoat, Erin McDaniel, McKenna Smith, Katelynn Lee, Leia Cogdill, and Aleeya Bird. Their instructor is Tina Allemond, RN.

Pelion High School graduation ceremony will be June 7 at the Colonial Life Arena beginning at 4 pm.

Pelion Elementary will celebrate the 5th grade students for their accomplishments on May 30 at the Pelion Performing Arts Center at 6:30 pm.

Congratulations to two staff retirees – Gaye Siler and Nancy Jeffcoat. The 5th grade Fun Day will be May 31, noon until 2 pm. Our PTO organizes this event.

The last PES Spirit and Hat Day will be May

31. Students are encouraged to wear their Pelion elementary shirts on this day. They can wear a hat for $1 and proceeds go to Relay for Life. All dads are invited to join the students for Doughnuts for Dad on June 3 at 7 am in the cafeteria.

The Kindergarten classes will have their End-of-Year celebrations June 3. June 4 and 5 are half days for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:40 each day and lunch will be served.

Happy birthday to Rhonda Grimes, Josh Quattlebaum, and Geneva Spires.

Happy anniversary to Bobby and Vernelle Daggerhart.

Pelion Library will host technology training June 5 at 10:30 am. Registration is required. Preschool Storytime will be June 5 at 11 am for ages 1-5 years. The Summer Reading Program will launch June 6 from 5 to 7 pm. Blast off into a Universe of Stories at the Summer Reading Launch Party. Activities include crafts, games, and fun photo booth. Snacks will be available. This event is for all ages.

The Pelion Senior Center will have summer crafts on June 3 and 4. June 5 will be a Health Fair.
