How to be consistently good

Posted

If you can read, then the chances of believing in the simplicity of today’s short lesson will be difficult.

I’m going to address the number 1 question to the majority of all requests I have gotten over the last 30-plus years.

“How can I be more consistently good?”

Enjoy the good shots more. That right. A highly effective way to be consistently good is to exploit the good ones.

Step 1 is to celebrate and savor every single aspect of the shot immediately after the strike. Review the flight, replay the sound along with the sensation you had in your hands and entire body.

The reaction to the golf shot and reflective assessment is 1 of the major principles that could link to the next.

Speaking of next, tune in next week for the “link” that can allow you produce a shot just as good, if not better than the last great 1 you hit.

Time to recognize some local youth performances.

The Ponderosa Club hosted the opening day of the Tri-County Chapter of the SC Junior Golf Association. Mavrick Mullinax, Luke Hammond and Roman Mullinax finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the boys 15-18.

In the Girls 13-18, Mia Andrade, Emily Baker Alexis Hodge placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Adysen Langdale was medalist in the girls 10-12, while Gage Gaskins was low scorer in the boys 13-14.

Madden Grace Butler earned the medal in girls 7-9, while Luke Caughman was low scorer in the boys 7-9.

Lauren Middleton made a Hole in 1 on 12 at Charwood Golf Club a few weeks ago and it was witnessed by her husband Greg and Trevor Woodleaf. Her perfect 7-iron found the cup.

Just 2 weeks later, she delivered Nora Blair Middleton. Nora Blair arrived early, but is making tremendous progress.

Mom is well and is ready to get back out.

“I think about that shot often and can’t wait to play again,” she said.

The Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commision has junior golf camps running in July, so check their website at icrc.net for details.

On July 25th, Grow Golf Now will host a “Girls Only Playing Class”. Check www.growgolfnow.com for details.
