Irmo Town Council members have approved a resolution establishing the Heart of Irmo award, a new recognition aimed at honoring individuals, businesses and organizations that contribute to the town.

The award will be presented twice a year, with no more than one recipient selected during each award cycle.

Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee, which will choose recipients based on criteria developed by the town administration.

The award is open to individuals, businesses and organizations that live, work, operate or volunteer within Irmo town limits. Elected officials and town employees are not eligible for consideration.

Nominations must be submitted through an online nomination during the designated nomination periods announced by the town.
