The Town of Irmo Police Department has introduced a new community initiative that aims to serve the town’s senior residents.
The Serving Our Seniors (SOS) program connects older adults with Irmo police officers through education workshops, wellness checks and emergency support, according to a Facebook post from the town.
The program will host informational workshops covering safety tips and local resources, along with routine wellness checks to ensure participants are safe.
It will also provide additional assistance during emergencies, allowing officers to check on SOS members and offer support.
Residents interested in joining the SOS program can email Sgt. Mielke at bmielke@townofirmosc.com or sign up through the Town of Irmo’s website.
