Is your child safe in her car seat?

The Lexington Police Department wants to ensure your child is safe in the car.

Lexington PD will hold child seat check events during South Carolina Child Passenger Safety Week.

Through Saturday, September 29, Child Passenger Seat Technicians will conduct free child seat checks.

“The numbers show that at least eight out of every ten child seats checked by technicians have issues in some way. An improperly installed child seat could jeopardize the safety of a child during a collision and this highlights the need for parents, grandparents, and guardians to take advantage of our free child seat check events,” said Chief Terrence Green.

“Ten minutes of having a car seat checked could make the difference for that child’s safety.”

Safety checks will be:

Thursday, Sept. 27 – Meadow Glen Elementary School, 510 Ginny Lane, Lexington, Back Park Lot Area, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., with Blue Bell Creameries ice cream

Friday, Sept. 28 – Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, 5580 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Get a free Frozen Yogurt Coupon

Saturday, Sept. 29 – Lexington Police Department, 111 Maiden Lane, Lexington, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m., with Krispy Kreme Donuts/Coffee
