Lifelong Learning Center would like to congratulate all of its May graduates. Nineteen students received their GEDs, one student obtained a South Carolina High School Diploma, and two students were recognized for attaining U.S. Citizenship. Good luck in all of your future endeavors!

Batesburg-Leesville Primary School is seeking new PTO officers. Positions that need to be filled are President, Vice President, Secretary and Fundraising Coordinator. If interested, be sure to come by and fill out an application.

The South Carolina Poultry Festival this weekend was a rousing success. Record numbers of people came to Batesburg-Leesville to celebrate friends, fellowship, and, of course, fried food. Be sure to come back next year!

Batesburg Leesville Elementary students in Mrs. Freiburger’s fourth grade class recently participated 10-week stock exchange contest and placed first out of 166 other teams in the elementary school division. The team, which named themselves the Purple Panthers, started with $100,000 in pretend funds that they could invest. Using a variety of math, language arts, economics, social studies and research skills, the team “bought and sold” stocks. Netflix turned out to be their most profitable stock, giving the team an extra $7,559.24 in income. At the end of the game, the Purple Panthers finished with $108,335.39, earning not only a first place spot in the elementary division, but also a ninth place finish out of all of the 1,089 teams.
