It’s Girl Scout Cookie time. Starting tomorrow scouts will canvas neighborhoods door to door taking orders for your favorite cookies. Watch out for them as you travel the area this weekend. All the usual cookies are still available, from Thin Mints to Caramel Delights, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thanks-A-Lot, Lemon, and the traditional Shortbread, all just $4 per box. Scouts gets a portion of their own sales to help them pay for Girl Scout activities throughout the year, including summer camp, so support your local scout.

If you’re on a fitness kick to start off the new year, here’s a reminder of inexpensive options. On Monday nights, St. James Lutheran Church hosts a Yoga session; it’s only $5. The class starts at 6:30 pm.

White Knoll High School’s wrestling program is having a great season so far, with an excellent showing at the recent Eagle Duals championship at Airport High; Ty Shealy, Jared Hudson, Thomas Backus and Nolon Shannon all went 5-0 in the event while Quinten Dodd was 4-0 and Jack Scott 3-0. The varsity’s overall record stands at 17-3. The team’s next event is the Blue Devil Invitational at Dre-her High School, Friday January 11.

Speaking of Timberwolves, the basketball program is in the thick of its schedule as well, with games this week at Chapin High School. Tonight the Freshman and JV squads play, tomorrow the girls and boys varsity teams face off against the Chapin Eagles starting at 6 pm. Go T-Wolves!

Happy Birthday this week to Tony Miller, Wayne Taylor, Melanie Kyzer, and Kevin Key, and a happy Sweet 16 last week to my daughter Anna.

Happy Anniversary to Joel and Donna Smith.
