Gilbert BSA Scouts Pack 60, held its Fall kickoff meeting this week. The Scouts were treated to ice cream sundaes and ice cream cones. The Pack 60 made plans for its fundraisers. Pack 60 Scouts will hold a recruitment night at both Gilbert Elementary and Gilbert Primary School August 29. They are looking for girls and boys in 5K through the 5th grades who are interested in Scouting.

Pack 60 Scouts has begun its popcorn sales. Each Saturday, they will be selling popcorn at the Gilbert-Summit IGA, Keisler Convenience Store, Lowes Grocery, Red-bank and Sportsmans WHSE. Sales will allow the Scouts to keep their costs low for camping trips and other events.

Last week we wrote about Jacob VanEtten, of Pack 60, who began a school supply drive to earn his Eagle Scout Service Project badge. We are excited to tell you that VanEtten collected over 1,000 school supplies to donate to Gilbert schools. Thank you for your hard work Jacob VanEtten.

Congratulations to the Gilbert Dixie Youth Baseball team, which recently receive the Rookie Ball Sportsmanship Award for the State of South Carolina. The team is composed of young boys who have worked hard throughout the season and who were unanimously chosen to receive this great honor during the State Tournament.

Gilbert Middle School welcomed back students with an open

house this week. Students had their annual school picture day Friday and later they were treated to a school dance.

The GMS Tomahawk Troubadours Honor Choir began rehearsals this week for the 2019-20 performances. GMS also received many snacks and candy for teachers and staff as a gift from Lake Murray Baptist and Pond Branch United Methodist churches.

Congratulations to the Gilbert High School Lady Indian Golfers, who placed second out of 15 teams at the Lady Blue Jacket Invitational.
