Lexington County reported only 109 initial unemployment claims the last week in May.
That compares with Greenville County with 221 initial claims, Spartanburg County 151, Richland County 140 and Horry County 105.
This will be the last month of the federal unemployment benefits program in SC.
The initial claims showed a drop of 89 from the previous week.
In the last week in May, SC paid out $51.4 million in state and federal unemployment benefits.
Since March 15, 2020, SC has paid more than $6.2 billion.
Nationally, initial unemployment claims fell by 20,000 to 385,000.
That’s the lowest level since March 14, 2020, when 256,000 claims were filed.
