Joel Donald Spires, Sr., 78, of Cayce, SC, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. There will be a private service Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 2pm. The family invites friends to join via live stream at www.LutheranLive.com. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.

Joe was born November 3, 1942 in Cayce to the late E.S. and Florrie Gleaton Spires. Joe was a Police Officer in Cayce for 10 years, and retired from trucking after 30 years of service. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Cayce during his childhood, and later became a member of Pisgah Lutheran Church of Lexington. He was active in the Lutheran Men Organization, where he delivered for Meals on Wheels in the Gilbert area. He served in many areas of the church, including the Church Council.

Joe is survived by his wife, Lona Smith Spires; son, Joel D. Spires, Jr. (Terry) of York; daughters, Elaine Seay (Mike), Donna Trotter, and Rhonda Kneece, all of Batesburg, and Tonya Bryson of Lancaster; stepson, Mark Rodgers (Macy) of Lexington; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
