John Douglas Williams

LEXINGTON – A memorial service for John Douglas Williams, 85, was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Cayce. The family received friends following the service. Memorials may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 1001 12th St., Cayce, SC 29033 or a charity of one’s choice.

Mr. Williams was born August 29, 1933 in Columbia, SC and passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. He was a son of the late Marvin H. and Lorena Matthews Williams. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was also an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Mary Myrtle Williams of Lexington; sons, John D. Williams, Jr. (Jenny) of Aiken and Gary Williams (Margaret) of Lexington; daughter, Susan W. Shumpert (Travis) of Lexington; brothers, Harold Williams of Gilbert, James (Margaret) Williams of Chapin and Wallace Williams of Eastover, along with ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, David E. Williams and son-in-law, Ricky Shumpert.
