Lexington County School District One students posted gains across multiple state assessments released Monday, Aug. 10, by the South Carolina Department of Education. District results exceeded statewide performance in every reported area of SC READY, the End-of-Course Examination Program and S.C. Career Readiness.
Among the highlights, Lexington One students increased their overall performance in both English language arts and mathematics on SC READY. The percentage of students earning a C or higher also increased in all three reported high school end-of-course subjects, led by an eight-percentage-point gain in Biology 1. Career Readiness results remained stable or improved in each assessed area.
“Progress like this is built over time through clear expectations, strong instruction and consistent support for students,” said Keith Price, superintendent of Lexington County School District One. “The Lexington One Way gives our schools a shared approach to creating a high-quality learning experience in every classroom—one guided by our graduate profile, instructional framework and curriculum aligned with rigorous state standards.
“Our Board of Trustees has made important investments in the professional learning and resources our educators need, including intensive mathematics training and math coaching in our elementary schools,” Price continued. “I am grateful for the expertise and commitment of our teachers, school administrators and instructional staff, as well as the effort of our students and the partnership of their families. Together, they are helping our students learn, grow and excel.”
