Twenty-seven students from Lexington County School District Two’s Brookland-Cayce High School and Airport High School were invited to walk in Midlands Technical College’s graduation ceremony on May 7.
These students were enrolled in the district’s early college and dual enrollment programs, where they earned college credits for free during the day in school.
William Barrs, Charleston Cartzendafner, Landon Chavez, Cindy Nguyen, Joshua Nix, Levi Rambo, Abbie Roley and Riley Wilbourne, who are currently all seniors, received both their associate in art and associate in science diplomas.
Aaden Serra received an associate in art diploma and Shelby Williamson received an associate in science.
Seventeen students, including seven juniors and 10 seniors, received their general college studies certificates after earning at least 18 college credits and completing six or more specific courses identified as transferable to all South Carolina four-year colleges.
These students are Charles Balkema, Christopher Boston, Lindsay Castrejon, Savannah Chappell, Tennessee Cunningham, Sharese Harrell, Hector Hernandez, Nathaniel Hughes, Olivia McIntosh, Madelyn Mendez-Pelaez, Kylee Merchant, Rayne-Marie Morris, Lawson Morris, Hannah Mullins, Isabelle O’Neal, Prince Patel and Carolina Redmond-Murillo.
Around 80 Lexington County School District Two students are enrolled in the early college and dual enrollment programs. The district has another 104 program applicants for the upcoming 2025-26 school year, the press release said.
Lexington County School District Two was the area’s first school district to partner with Midlands Technical College to offer the early college program.
