A philanthropic organization has presented 3 District 2 teachers with $350 Amazon gifts cards.

Each teacher was selected by their principals for House of Raeford’s FLOCK and chosen because of their commitment to education.

The teachers are Ryann Gaffney of Cayce Elementary, Bailey Pearson of Bus-bee Creative Arts Center and Kim Smartt of Northside Middle School.

“FLOCK has a goal to every day have a positive impact on our community,” said Chuck Underhill, who oversees FLOCK locally.

Ryann Gaffney of Cayce Elementary said, “I plan on using the gift card to purchase some snacks for my room and maybe a few things to sharpen the saw.” Busbee Principal Stephanie Hucks said Pearson is an exceptional teacher.

“Mr. Pearson goes above and beyond what we ask of him,” she said. “He works with all students on all levels. He works with them on his lunch break and helps with extracurricular activities, too.”

Mary Page Damm, North-side Middle principle said when she was asked to name a phenomenal teacher, Ms. Smartt was the first one she thought of.

Smartt held back tears when she was informed that she had been selected.
