Lexington County School District Two will be hosting its annual recruitment fair on Jan. 14, offering individuals the opportunity to explore career options in the district.
The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Lexington Two Performing Arts Center located at 3205 Platt Springs Rd. in West Columbia.
The district serves about 8,500 students in the communities of Cayce, West Columbia, Springdale, South Congaree and Pine Ridge. It includes six elementary schools, four middle schools, two high schools, an innovation center, an alternative school program and a performing arts center.
Attendees will have the chance to meet with district administrators and learn more about available positions and programs. According to the press release, new teachers in critical needs areas such as English, math, science, special education and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) will be offered a $2,500 sign-on bonus.
Additional benefits include mentoring, professional development, leadership programs, smaller class sizes, flexible support options and state health benefits, the press release said.
The starting salary for new teachers with a bachelor’s degree is $50,000, with increases based on experience, education and performance.
As of the latest update on Lexington Two’s website, open positions include two administrative roles, one athletics position, one homebound teacher, one occupational therapist, three part-time roles, one school nurse, one substitute, eight support staff, two CATE/architecture and construction teachers, 32 regular teachers, 21 special education teachers and four transportation positions.
