While heavy rain and thunder in Lexington County postponed Thursday’s rematch between West Columbia and Chapin/Newberry, Lexington Post 7 won its third straight game.
Led by a two-hit, six strikeout performance by Gilbert pitcher Jackson Lineberry, Lexington shut out Aiken Post 26 7-0 on the road.
Cole Long of Lexington scored twice and had two hits and both Charlie Compton of Northside Christian and Bennett Robinson each had two hits and an RBI.
Lexington (4-2, 3-1) will have a non-league game Monday at Rock HIll.
West Columbia and Chapin/Newberry have rescheduled its postponed game to June 23. Post 79 will head to South Florence High School for the Palmetto Invitational this weekend, while Post 193/24 travels to Sumter Saturday.
