Lexington County arrests 2, seeks 1 more after string of more than 30 car break-ins

Two suspects have been arrested and one is still being sought after a string of more than 30 local car break-ins.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department announced Oct. 16 the arrest of Quadriquez Malik Poole, 19 of Ellenwood, Georgia (charged with 38 counts of breaking into vehicles, vehicle theft, second-degree burglary and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor). The department also announced the arrest of a second suspect from Georgia, whose name is being withheld as he is under 18.

The department is seeking a third suspect who is allegedly part of the same Georgia-based theft ring, according to a news release. The third suspect wasn’t identified.

“The break-ins from this case happened the first week of October at several places between the 1200 and 2800 blocks of Bush River Road,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted. “There was one burglary associated with this investigation that happened in that same area Oct. 6.”

Per the release, “a detective made contact with the two suspects hours after the burglary and arrested them after a short foot chase.”

The release notes that more arrests and charges are likely to come, with investigators continuing to follow leads related to the case.

“We’ve recovered some of the stolen property and returned it to the owners,” Koon is quoted. “We got the car back, a gun, some electronics and a lot of debit and credit cards.”

Poole is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center, with bonds totaling $256,000 having been set for the 44 charges against him. The juvenile suspect was taken to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice, the release states.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
