Lexington County baseball, softball players selected to 2026 All-State teams

Posted

With the high school baseball and softball season in the books, it’s time to recognize the area’s top players.

The South Carolina high school baseball and softball coaches released their choices for the 2026 All-State teams from each classification, and 20 local athletes from 10 different schools made the list.

Leading the way is the Airport baseball team with three 4A All-State selections. Landon Jeffcoat, Daniel Butts and Rylan Bullis each earned a spot after helping get the Eagles back to the state championship game for the second year in a row.

Jeffcoat and Bullis lead Airport’s offense, each hitting above 0.350 for the season. Bullis also served as one of the team’s top pitchers. Butts was another regular on the mound for the Eagles, leading the team in wins.

Airport finished the 2026 season (24-8) overall and runner-up in the playoffs.

Both of Lexington County’s state championship-winning teams also had players selected.

Gray Collegiate’s softball team had a pair of All-State athletes in Aspen Boulware and McKenzie Sease.

Sease was one of the state’s best hitters and pitchers in 2026. Boulware, who was last season’s Gatorade Player of the Year, earned another accolade to her name.

The War Eagles had a dominant year en route to their third straight state title. The team went undefeated the entire season, and Boulware and Sease were a big reason why.  Chapin’s baseball team won its first state title since 2018, leaning on a balanced effort from a bunch of talented players.

Pitcher Mac Berry was given the All-State nod after an excellent year on the mound. He was crucial to Chapin’s success and made it difficult for opposing teams’ hitters.

Berry was on the mound in Chapin’s game one win of the championship series over TL Hanna. He threw five innings, recording eight strikeouts and giving up just two hits, two runs and four walks.

Three other local teams had multiple players chosen.

Kitt McLauchlin and Grant Royer made it for the Gilbert baseball team. The Indians went (18-10-2) overall in 2026 and finished third in a highly competitive region.

Livi Warren and Payton Gonce led Lexington’s softball team to a region championship and (19-8) overall record, earning an All-State nod for their efforts.

Batesburg-Leesville softball’s Kate Shealy and Ainsley Minchew were another duo selected.
