Posted

A woman was shot and a man died during an incident in Lexington County during the evening of July 26.

The 34-year-old woman, who has yet to be identified, was shot by the unidentified man who died, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

“Her medical team tells detectives she is in stable condition after surgery last night,” the department posted to Facebook.

“While our work on the case continues, there is no ongoing search for other potential suspects or persons of interest related to the shooting.”

The department initially reported that it was conducting an investigation into two deaths on the 400 block of Ermine Road at 7:22 p.m. About 20 minutes later, it posted that its response continued and that it had confirmed that only one person had died.

According to the department’s Facebook updates, the incident took place at a business on Ermine Road. The 400 block is located off Augusta Road/U.S. 1 about two miles west of Interstate 26 and the West Columbia city limits.

Crime scene investigators were reported to be collecting potential evidence from the scene, and detectives were reported to have been interviewing neighbors and others about the incident.

The department said this is an isolated incident and presents no ongoing threat to the public.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
