A Lexington County man has been arrested for operating a motorcycle chop shop.
Per a release, Michael Anthony Dolan, 42, was arrested Sept. 6 and charged with operation of a chop shop, receiving stolen goods (value greater than $10,000) and three counts of forging a certificate of title.
According to the arrest warrants, an agent with the Vehicle Crimes Unit of the state Law Enforcement Division executed a search warrant at Dolan’s residence.
“Upon the execution of the search warrant, the defendant was found to be unlawfully operating a chop shop in that he was found to be in constructive possession of five motorcycles that had their vehicle identification numbers (VINs) altered, counterfeited, disguised, and/or destroyed with the intent to misrepresent the identity or prevent the identification of the motorcycles,” the warrants state.
Per the release, Dolan was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest. His case is set to be prosecuted by the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
“Additional motorcycles in North and South Carolina may have come from Dolan’s Chop Shop,” the release states. “SLED’s investigation into the matter is active and ongoing.”
