A West Columbia man was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to illicit sexual conduct in foreign places, producing child sexual abuse material, coercion and enticement of a minor, and aiding and abetting.
Investigators state that Stephen Todd Greene, 55, engaged in an online relationship with a woman in Brazil who had access to two minor girls, ages 8 and 2. Investigators say Greene solicited sexual abuse images and videos of the children for sexual gratification.
Authorities said Greene also installed cameras in one child’s bedroom, giving him remote, 24/7 access.
In July 2024, Greene traveled to Brazil and sexually abused one of the victims on several occasions. He later admitted to prior sexual abuse of at least one child in South Carolina.
Investigators seized Greene’s devices, uncovering more than 250 images and 100 videos of child sexual abuse material.
After his prison term, Greene will serve 15 years of court-ordered supervision. Federal systems do not include the possibility of parole.
