A Lexington County resident has been sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to one charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
26-year-old Gaston resident R’Mani Jy’Mere Holloway was initially arrested on Feb. 9, 2023, after deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department stopped him on state warrants related to probation violations.
At the scene of the arrest, deputies found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, 16.12 grams of MDMA, ammunition and digital scales all in Holloway’s car, according to the press release.
Holloway has previously been convicted on charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree domestic violence, disorderly conduct and discharging a firearm into a home. When he was arrested in February 2023, he was on probation for the previously mentioned firearm conviction.
Holloway is legally prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm and ammunition because of his prior felony convictions.
After he serves his five-year prison sentence, Holloway will also be under three years of court-mandated supervision. He is not eligible for parole.
