Marge Carter is 95 years young! And young she is!
She enjoyed conversation with numerous friends at her birthday reception last Saturday. Held at her lifelong church, Mount Olive Lutheran, Marge received many hugs and “Happy Birthdays!”
Her parents were Essie and Lester Sons, and she was married to Bob Carter. Her family includes children Robin, Mark and Mike and a deceased son, Phil, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sister, Ann Watkins, and nieces and nephews were there, except nephew Sheriff Jay Koon, who was out on official duty.
Marge has always been active. She played basketball at Lexington High School some years ago.
She has worked as a federal employee and with the county registration and election commission.
When asked what has attributed to her good health, she said the day she officially retired from working, she joined LMC’s Health Directions. There, she exercised faithfully and started volunteering on Wednesdays at LMC’s Lexington Urgent Care. A member of Post 7 American Legion Auxiliary, she has proudly served there.
No longer driving, Marge says she thinks she could, but her family says no. That doesn’t keep her from going, though. Her family and many friends happily give her a ride anytime.
There will be no retirement rocking chair for Marge. She just keeps on going and staying young! Best wishes!
