Lexington hires Sarah Moore as next head girls soccer coach

Lexington’s girls soccer team is officially under new leadership.

The Wildcats hired Sarah Moore to be the team’s next head coach, replacing long-time coach Chris Fryland. Moore is a former player at Lexington under Fryland and was an assistant on his staff as well.

Moore also served as the head coach at White Knoll for two seasons from 2021-23.

"I am looking forward to continuing the legacy and program built by Coach Fryland that has shaped me, as well as countless others, into the players and people we are today," Moore said.

Fryland retired at the end of the 2026 season. He ended his career as the all-time winningest girls soccer coach in South Carolina history, recording over 475 victories. Most of those came in his 27 years at Lexington.

Moore credits Fryland for having a huge influence on her development as a player and a coach.

Following her years as a player at Lexington, Moore went on to play college soccer at USC Aiken. Once her playing days were done, she immediately jumped into coaching.

Outside of high school, Moore also coached at the Lexington Soccer Academy.

Her philosophy will center around building strong player relationships and teaching that soccer is more than a game. It is also an avenue for teaching important life skills.

Moore takes over a Lexington soccer program fresh off a deep run in the SCHSL 5A Division I playoffs. The Wildcats finished 2026 (19-3-2) overall and won the region with a (9-1) record.
