A Lexington County resident has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct and burglary.

Terrell Dawaijah Lytes, 32 of Lexington, was arrested Oct. 2, accused of committing sexual battery against a woman who was asleep after breaking into her Red Bank home around 5 a.m.

Lytes is being charged with first degree burglary and first degree criminal sexual conduct, according to a press release.

“Based on information detectives have gathered during their investigation, Lytes entered a house on David Lane in Red Bank through a bedroom window,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted in a release. “He then tried to sexually assault a woman who was asleep in bed with her husband.”

A provided incident report states that Lytes entered the house through a window that was partially cracked with an air conditioned unit sticking out. He was allegedly able to push the vent inside of the room, pull down a blanket, open the window, and climb into the home.

According to the arrest warrants, upon entering the home, Lytes pulled down the victim's shorts and panties while she was sleeping, proceeding to lick inside her butt cheeks around her anus before he put his penis between the victim's butt cheeks and attempted to insert his penis inside her.

The incident report states that the victim woke her husband, who was lying in bed next to her, who tackled Lytes and then escorted him out of the residence. The release states that Lytes was eventually located near the home.

According to the report, other units on scene at the Red Bank home gathered additional information by looking through a small backpack that was left inside the bedroom, including Lytes’ state identification along with other assorted items, with the identification card proving helpful in matching Lytes to the alleged crime.

A white T-shirt and pinkish overshirt were also found in the room, both determined to be Lytes’.

A small child was also in the bedroom where the victim and her husband were sleeping. The victim didn’t require medical attention.
