Lexington man allegedly drove truck through house belonging to his girlfriend’s mother

The Chronicle has learned new details surrounding a Lexington man who allegedly drove a truck through a house.

According to an incident report provided by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Jeffrey O’Neal Yasmine, 39, drove a blue 2021 Ford F150 into the front door of a two-story residence belonging to his girlfriend’s mother on Feb. 27.

There were three adults and three children in the home at the time of the incident, with one adult sustaining minor injuries, the department announced in a release.

According to the incident report, Yasmine’s girlfriend had gone to her mother’s house with her children due to her boyfriend's behavior. The girlfriend had a friend join her at the residence.

“Jeffrey started texting her accusing her of cheating on him in addition to insinuating vague comments that [redacted] perceived as threats,” the report states, relating the girlfriend’s account of the incident. “[Redacted] stated that Jeffrey started driving by the house and honking the horn on his truck before leaving soon after.”

According to the girlfriend’s account, Yasmine drove up to the residence again, this time checking to see if anyone was inside the black SUV located on the premises.

“[Redacted] advised that Jeffrey drove off again but soon returned at the residence honking the horn. [Redacted] advised that she heard the horn coming closer down Lexington Hills Parkway from the direction of Double Eagle Circle towards Riglaw Circle,” the report states.

“[Redacted] stated that she saw Jeffrey’s blue Ford F-150 come around the corner of Lexington Hills Parkway and Riglaw Circle, drive into the yard, and then accelerate into the front of the house where the front door was located. [Redacted] advised that [redacted] was standing at the glass front door looking out toward the vehicle when Jeffrey accelerated into the front of the house causing the door to cave in.”

Provided arrest warrants state that there was a victim looking out from the front door when Yasmine accelerated the truck in that direction.

The incident report indicates that the residence was subsequently deemed unsafe to live in by Lexington County Fire Services, with damage to the header above the door and the brick exterior wall being cracked.

Fire Services contacted the Red Cross to request assistance due to the entire family being displaced.

According to arrest warrants, deputies attempted to make contact with Yasmine on March 5 while patrolling on South Lake Drive. When Yasmine saw the emergency lights and sirens of a marked patrol vehicle, he accelerated in an attempt to flee, initiating a pursuit, during which Yasmine ran two red lights and accelerated to speeds exceeding 85 miles per hour in a 45 miles-per-hour zone. Yasmine was apprehended after his vehicle ran out of gas

According to a second provided incident report, Yasmine told a responding officer that he fled due to his knowing he had active warrants with the sheriff’s department.

“Yasmine advised me that ‘he did not mean to run into those people`s house the other day,’” the report states. “Yasmine also stated that ‘he may have pressed the gas too hard but that he thought the brake was on.’”

Yasmine was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest.

He is charged with attempted murder, domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, malicious injury to personal property greater than $2,000, failure to stop for blue lights and three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.
