Christopher Patrick Brewer, 41, of Lexington, has been charged with impersonating a police officer and carrying a weapon on school grounds.

According to a release from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Brewer “carried a personally owned handgun while at Beechwood Middle School in Lexington between 2022 and February 2026.”

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon says in the release that security camera footage captures Brewer inside the local middle school with the handgun.

“Brewer would present himself as a law enforcement officer when he entered the school,” Koon said. “He was certified as a constable at one time, according to SLED, but he hasn’t served as a constable since 2019.”

Brewer was arrested at his home on May 15. He has been released from the Lexington County Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond, according to the release.
