How often do 2 contestants from the same town win 2 top state titles?

Friday Kellan Fenegan, 16, of Lexington became Miss SC Teen at Township Auditorium in Columbia.

Saturday, Morgan Nichols, 22, of Lexington, became Miss SC at the same place.

Nichols, a Clemson University student, was a rare winner competing for the 1st time for Miss SC.

She is a senior majoring in science and will represent the state at the Miss America pageant Sept. 9 in Atlantic City, NJ. She focuses on encouraging students to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

She won a $60,000 scholarship, the most of any state pageant and $10,000 more than Miss America last year.

Nichols plans to seek a Master of Business Administration at Harvard. She sang “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in the talent event.

Fenegan, a River Bluff High student, plans to become a pediatric oncologist.

She sang “In My Dreams” in the talent competition.

She was an evening gown/social impact preliminary winner, too.

She received a $10,000 savings bond and will represent the state at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen July 27 in Orlando, FL.
