The Lexington Police Department recently announced two arrests following investigations that included asking the public for help.

One of the arrests stemmed from a pair of September incidents in which a man was reported to have been following juvenile girls around and touching himself. The other was the result of an attempted armed robbery in the Lexington Walmart parking lot earlier this month.

Dates weren’t immediately provided for when the two arrests took place.

George Kenneth Greaves, 51 of Batesburg, was arrested following the September incidents after the department shared photos of the alleged suspect over social media. He is charged with two counts of disorderly conduct.

“Tips were provided that assisted in the identification of George Greaves as the alleged suspect in both of these incidents,” a release states.

“On the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, officers were dispatched to an incident at the Lexington County Public Library, located at 5440 Augusta Road in Lexington, where it was reported that a man was following several juvenile girls around and appeared to be masturbating with his hand in the front of his pants,” the release recounts.

“On the afternoon of Saturday, September 30, 2023, officers were dispatched to Dollar Tree, located at 5570 Sunset Boulevard in Lexington, where it was reported that a man approached a juvenile girl and tried to speak with her. The victim stated that she saw the man touch his genital area outside of his pants and then saw his hand inside the front of his pants.”

Per the release, Greaves was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center and was given a surety bond of $257.50 on each of the two charges.

Donald Bryan Willingham, 54 of Columbia, was arrested following an Oct. 6 attempted armed robbery in the parking lot of the East Towne Center shopping center at 5556 Sunset Blvd. He is charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

“On the afternoon of Friday, October 6, 2023, officers were dispatched to an armed robbery and met with a victim who stated that a man, who is alleged to have been Donald Willingham, walked up to her vehicle with a handgun and demanded money from her,” a release states. “The victim fled from the scene in her vehicle without giving him any money and went to the Lexington Police Department to report the incident.”

Per the release, the department shared a facial composite sketch along with a photo of a vehicle involved in the incident with local media, receiving multiple tips that “Donald Willingham was telling people that he knew that he had been involved in the incident.”

Willingham was given a surety bond of $100,000 following his arrest, with a requirement for mental health counseling and GPS monitoring.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
