Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested two 18-year-olds after a Dec. 11 shooting and armed robbery in a subdivision.

Per a news release, Stephen Reese Clifton and Tekhi Augustus Jones are charged with two counts each of attempted murder, kidnapping, attempted robbery, conspiracy and discharging a firearm into a dwelling in conjunction with the incident that occurred late in the night in the Lexington Hills neighborhood south of Red Bank.

Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted saying detectives were able to gather info from interviews indicating the incident was “a planned and targeted robbery.”

“Clifton and Jones went to a home on Double Eagle Circle late Saturday night with the intention of robbing a guy after a drug deal went down,” the sheriff is quoted.

Arrest warrants provided to the Chronicle alledge that Clifton and Jones planned to steal cellphones, cash and drugs.

“During a drug deal at the victims’ residence, the defendents brandished several weapons and relieved [redacted] of his marijuana and digital scale,” reads one of the warrants for armed robbery. “[Redacted] managed to tell an occupant of the residence to call 911 causing Tekhi Augustus Jones to run outside. the defendents shot several times into the residence, striking an occupant in the arm and back.”

The warrants for kidnapping indicate that Clifton and Jones initially followed the victim inside before later leaving him outside, guarded at gunpoint by two men who have yet to be identified.

“The victim told someone else inside the home to call law enforcement,” Koon is quoted in the release. “When Clifton and Jones heard this, they ran away from the house with the other two suspects who fired several shots into the house. A woman was struck, but she’s expected to make a full recovery.”

The department is seeking tips from the community to identify the other two men involved in the robbery.

“We hope someone will step forward and share a helpful tip with us,” Koon is quoted.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to share it anonymously on the Crimestoppers app or by calling 888-274-6372.
