The Lexington Family YMCA, located at 401 YMCA Road, Lexington, will open its doors for the last time on Dec. 20.

The YMCA of Columbia has served the Redbank and Lexington communities through programs at the Lexington Family Y since 1955. But the Lexington Y can no longer sustain operations.

“Unfortunately, with the cost of maintaining the extensive property, combined with a large decline in use, we are simply unable to continue the operation of the facility,” said Bill Price, Chief Executive Officer of the YMCA of Columbia.

Lexington Y employees will have the option to fill vacant positions at other YMCA of Columbia locations.

Members of the Lexington Y may elect to continue their membership at another location at no additional cost to them.
