Lexington High School’s Students In Action group showed their support for children diagnosed with pediatric cancer, raising nearly $7,000 through a four-part initiative.

With guidance from SIA advisers Jessica Bonnette and Murray Cromer, students organized fundraisers as part of the national St. Baldrick’s Foundation campaign. They invited people to donate in honor of Meadow Glen Middle School student Brayden Sox, who is fighting cancer.

Students raised funds by hosting a Parents’ Night Out, offering babysitting services for families in the community for a fee, and creating an online donation page and social media awareness with #Balding4Bray.

During the NaturChem Invitational baseball tournament, SIA members organized a home run derby with the LHS and River Bluff High School baseball teams. Local businesses donated money for each home run. Making sure to connect potential donors to the cause, SIA members honored local children undergoing cancer treatment as special guests during the derby.
