Windstream in Lexington is collecting school supplies for United Way of the Midlands.
The National Retail Federation estimates families will spend an average of $674 on back to school supplies and clothing each year.
Windstream at 5135 Sunset Blvd., Suite J will be accepting new school supplies and other classroom materials through August 17.
Needed supplied include paper, crayons, scissors, pencils, pens, glue, markers, folders, and erasers. Tissues and hand sanitizer are also encouraged.
“This school supply drive will allow many students in our community to have access to the essential school supplies that are necessary for them to succeed in the classroom,” said Justin Petty, Lexington retail store manager.
Anyone who visits the location will be entered in a drawing to win a Chrome-book 11.
