Chapin/Newberry Post 193 and Lexington Post 7 find themselves in 0-1 holes in their respective Best-of-Five American Legion first-round series.
Both teams rallied in their opening games before falling in extra innings. Top seed Chapin/Newberry Post 193 came back at home against second-seed Anderson Post 14, but fell 10-6.
Game Two was scheduled for Tuesday at Anderson Memorial Stadium in Anderson. The series then returned to the Smith Road Complex on the campus of Newberry College Wednesday.
Game Four, if necessary, is scheduled at Anderson Thursday and a deciding game Saturday back in Neweberry.
Over in Camden, Fourth seed Lexington rallied twice to tie Camden in Game One. A sacrifice fly in the eighth inning by Zack Smith put Post 7 ahead in the top of the eighth, but Camden scored on a two-out, bases loaded hit by pitch to deadlock the game again at 4-4.
Jackson Hannon of River Bluff put Lexington ahead a second time in the top of the 12th with a RBI double. Camden quickly tied the game a fourth time off a Post 7 error and won the game in the bottom half of the inning on Wynston Dyerl’s walkoff RBI single.
Game Two in the series was played Tuesday at Lexington Ball Field, with Game Three set for Wednesday at Legion Field in Camden. In necessary, Game Four would be played Thursday in Lexington and Game Five back in Camden.
