Lots happening at library this week

Around pelion

Pelion Library will host technology training July 12 at 10:30 am. Registration is required.

Preschool storytime will be July 12 at 11 am for ages 1-5 years. Grades K-5 will participate in a Universe of Stories July 12 at 10:30 am. Suzette Hawkins will take the group on a voyage beyond the sun, moon and stars. Brick Books will be July 13 at 10 am for ages 18 and up.

July 16 Tween Extreme meets at 3:30 pm for a hands-on art project featuring Galaxy Jars. This event is for grades 4-7. SC Plants the Seed will be held July 18 , 2-6 pm. Local farmers will offer a variety of fruits and vegetables for sale and nutritional information and story time will be offered for families.

Teen Scene FOR GRADES 6-12 meets July 18 at 6 pm to create a Moon Garden. The idea is to create a space to help maintain serenity in your room or workplace.

Happy birthday to David Goldsberry and Hazel Padgett.

Happy anniversary to Charlie and Jean Haggard.

The Pelion Senior Center will travel to Beulah Church July 11. Games to be played this week include puzzles and games and shuffleboard.

Congratulations to Pelion High students who received scholarships. Dylan Jeffery Williamson received the Citadel Athletic scholarship. Travon Amaad Alston was awarded the Louisburg College scholarship and the Louisburg Incentive Grant. He was also awarded the Strong Foundations scholarship. The Midlands Work Based Learning scholarship recipient was Dalton Evan Bird. The Gateway 2 Clemson scholarships were awarded to Charlie Barrett Allemond, Gabriel Michael Locklear, and Lauren Colette Duenke.

Caitlin Briana Jeffcoat received the SC CTEA scholarship. Cheryl Lynn LaDue received the North Greenville Founder’s scholarship. The Federal SEOG Grant was awarded to Gabriel Michael Locklear.

Lydia Grace Mills was awarded the Pine-belt Foundation Merchants Company scholarship. George Walker Karl Storm was awarded the Pikeville University Athletic scholarship, the Pikeville University GPA scholarship and the Pikeville University Test Score scholarship. Kaleb Dawson Vick was the recipient of the Erskine Garnet scholarship.
