The Pelion Ruritan Club members met before the Memorial Day ceremony to clean around the monument and get everything ready for the service. Thanks to Faye Lee, Alice Masico, Frank Shumpert, Sam and Beverly Jackson, Steve Neese and David. After cleaning, the Ruritan placed new flags on the veterans’ graves at Oaklawn. Thanks to all who assisted.

To better serve the public, the library has made adjustments that include: Automatic renewal of library cards and materials, waiving late fees and an easy, online library card application process that gives users access to ebooks and databases.

Available library resources include digital resources available 24/7 including ebooks, audiobooks, movies, music, databases, and more. An expanded ebook collection with increased number of checkouts per user in Hoopla, a corona virus resource directory with a quick database of financial, health, educational, and recreational information that might be useful during this stressful time. Also available are video story time programs on Facebook. Free used books are available at all locations. Wifi access goes beyond library walls and is available outside and in most parking lots. It is important to practice social distancing at all times.

Pelion Library urges patrons to place reservation/holds on the books they want by logging into their account at Lexcolibrary. com. The library staff will call you when your hold is ready for pickup. Please call the library with all questions at 803-785-3272.

The library is at present only allowing patrons access to holds. There will be more announcements on June 2.
