Midlands Technical College graduated more than 1,700 students last week.

9 of them were in the college’s new paramedic training certificate program.

Those graduates received a 100% pass rate on the na tional exam.

They completed more than 6,200 hours in field internships and clinicals.

They also treated more than 2,000 patients.

In virtual ceremonies, MTC recognized academic degree, diploma and certificate graduates.

Every year, MTC fills the job pipeline with students who are well trained, said MTC President Ron Rhames.

Benji McCollum, paramedic program director, said 1 student resuscitated a premature newborn.

Others performed needle decompressions to relieve collapsed lungs.

“This group has already made an impact, and they will continue to make an impact,” McCollum said.
