Cookin’ with THE CHRONICLE

Everybody has heard of Claxton Fruitcake. Now, I’m going to tell you a little story. My first cousin Paula is first cousins with Dale Parker. one of the owners of Claxton Fruitcake. Claxton Fruitcake is delicious. Buy it when you can. My recipe is different because it’s more cake-y. It’s super easy.

Oh, by the way, in 1964 I got to ride in the Orangebowl parade in Miami, Fla., with cousin Paula and her cousin Dale on the Claxton Fruitcake float. Did I mention Claxton is on U.S. 301? So is my hometown, Glennville, GA., the largest producer of the Vidalia onion in the world.
