The Miss South Carolina Organization moved the live telecast of the 2020 Miss South Carolina competition to Sat. Aug. 1. The scholarship competition was originally scheduled to air on June 27, however, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition was moved.
Erin Gambrell, Chairman of the Board for the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization said, “the health and well-being of our candidates, their families, our competition volunteers and production team are what matters most during this unprecedented time.”
During the week of July 26, candidates in the Miss and Teen divisions will compete in various phases of competition at the Township Auditorium in Columbia. Specific details of the competition will be available on miss-sc.org once the Miss South Carolina board of directors has finalized scheduling.
More than $200,000 in scholarship funds are awarded annually to South Carolina’s local and state titleholders. The new Miss South Carolina will receive a $60,000 scholarship, the largest scholarship offering from any Miss America Organization state pageant. The winner will also compete for the job of Miss America later this year.
