AROUND LEXINGTON COUNTY

On Mother’s Day Sunday many families came together to honor their mothers on her special day. Quotes read at a Sunday service: “God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers,” Rudyard Kipling.

“My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to her. I attribute my success to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her,” George Washington.

“I learned more about Christianity from my mother than from all the theologians in England,” John Wesley,’

“A mother’s arms are more comforting than anyone else’s,” Princess Diana.

Mothers did not have to cook on Sunday. All our local restaurants were filled to capacity with lines waiting their turn. Bouquets were abundant as well as cards and wrapped gifts. It was a very special day!

This is the last weekend you can take in the Wizard of Oz at

our Village Square Theater. It will be playing this weekend May 17 and 18, 7:30 pm and May 19 at 3 pm.

So amazing that our local theater can develop such talent and produce shows to give locals a chance to perform and further their dreams.

This greatest family musical of all time takes you down the yellow brick road with Dorothy and Toto and friends.

Outstanding were Dorothy, Morgan Taylor; Toto, Wrenn German; and other cast members and director Becky Craft, producer Jaime Presor, musical director Camille Jon and choreographer Candice Pipkins.
