More arrests made in 2023 Batesburg murder case

Authorities have announced additional arrests in connection with a 2023 shooting that left a 20-year-old man dead in the Midlands. 

Jatavious K. Harris was found deceased in July 2023 inside a home in the 800 block of Old 96 Indian Trail in the Monetta area of Aiken County near the town of Batesburg-Leesville, which has areas in Lexington, Aiken and Saluda counties.

In October 2023, Monetta resident Jquan Kentrall Bowers was arrested and charged with murder, four counts of attempted murder and weapons charges. He was 18 at the time of his arrest.

Investigators have since arrested Antavis Jaryan Pickens, 22, also of Monetta, in connection with the case. Pickens faces charges of murder, four counts of attempted murder and weapons charges. He is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.

Authorities have also obtained arrest warrants for two additional Monetta residents, 27-year-old Omarious Jawan Todman and 24-year-old Daniel Timothy Harris, in relation to the case. Todman and Daniel Harris are being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
