Motorcyclist dies on I-26 in Lexington County

An Elgin man died Saturday morning on I-26.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the motorcyclist who died as a result of being struck by motor vehicles on I-26 eastbound at mile marker 118 shortly before 1 am on Saturday, Jan. 9.
According to Fisher, Christopher James Prewitt, 34, of Elgin was pronounced dead at the scene. Prewitt, who was not wearing a helmet, appeared to have been involved in a single-vehicle incident, causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle, prior to being struck by 2 other vehicles.
The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
