The area’s largest technical college is pioneering real-time instruction during the pandemic.
Midlands Technical College last week announced details of its highly-revised course delivery.
Courses can be taken in traditional on-campus, virtual and hybrid online classes.
New virtual classes meet via web conferencing at set times with live, real-time instruction and classmate interaction.
Online courses are selfpaced with due dates for assignments.
Hybrid classes are a mix of traditional on-campus and online or virtual.
“A normal fall at MTC would be made up of about 75% on-campus and 25% online,” said Barrie Kirk, MTC’s Provost.
“Based on student feedback, we decided a major shift in course delivery was necessary.”
The new virtual offerings will make up 45% of fall courses.
Another 16% will be delivered online, 33% on-campus and 6% hybrid.
