A Gaston man died on Edmund Highway Tuesday night, June 29.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said the man died as a result of a multiple vehicle accident that occurred in the 4700 block of Edmund Highway, South Congaree, at approximately 8:40 pm.

Andrew William Day, 20, of Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries, according to Fisher. Day was traveling east on Edmund Highway when another vehicle, traveling west, crossed the center median, striking Day’s vehicle head on. The driver of the other vehicle, and a passenger in Day’s vehicle were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT Team.
