Nephron contributes to education

Thanks to Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation for its recent contribution to the Lexington One Educational Foundation of $9,000 to cover course fees for students enrolled in Lexington One’s Pharmacology course, which is offered at both LTC and White Knoll High School. The donation will pay the student fee for 30 students enrolled this school year. This is the third time Nephron has done this, making this career-bound course available to students regardless of their ability to pay the extra fees.

The dates are not imminent, but coming soon enough I need to mention a couple of athletic opportunities out there. Red Bank Baptist will again hold Upward Basketball at the church on South Lake Drive. Registration begins online at redbankchurch.org October 1, with evaluations starting the 15th.

White Knoll High School’s wrestling program is sponsoring a Youth Wrestling program this fall for grades K through 6. Registration in person will be 5:30 until 7 October 15 and 21 in the WKHS wrestling room.

Speaking of White

Knoll High School sports, the varsity football team’s big win over Gray Collegiate last Friday means the team is now 5-0 and enjoying a bye week before facing off with crosstown rivals Lexington. It’s only the second time in the school’s 20 year history they’ve gotten off to such a good start.

Happy birthday to Matt Gunter, Todd Keisler, Ives Chapman, Elizabeth Allen, Elaine Bedenbaugh, J. D. Gable, Brandon Lambert, Margaret Koon, John Childers, Jessica Tindall, Amanda McKenzie, Helene Dove, Barbie Barrier, John Stafford, Amanda Smith, Jennifer Huffines, Leslie Smith, Madison Snelgrove, and Terry Reynolds.

Happy Anniversary this week to Russell and Pearle Etheridge, and to Jerry and Freida Snelgrove.
